Christantus Uche Fuels Dominant Palace Triumph at Irish Side Shelbourne.

Even though entering their first-ever European campaign, Crystal Palace are learning very quickly. Missing star figures like forward Jean-Philippe Mateta and wing-back Daniel Muñoz, the Eagles departed Dublin with a commanding win that all but secures them a place in the Europa Conference League qualifying rounds.

Another three points in their upcoming match against Finnish KuPS should be enough to secure straight passage to the knockout stages, particularly after a prior setback against Strasbourg.

Squad Members Grasp the Opportunity

This match provided a chance for some of Palace's lesser-used talent to shine. Christantus Uche, in only his second beginning since joining on loan from Getafe, notched the account with a well-taken finish. Forward Eddie Nketiah contributed a second, scoring for the second consecutive succession.

The Shelbourne side that had finished their domestic season were no match against a mostly second-string Palace lineup. The Londoners were already depleted by the reports that Mateta and Muñoz are sidelined with leg injuries.

Dominance Established from the Start

Despite heavy rain in Dublin, Palace quickly established dominance. A slick passing sequence in the 11th minute, initiated by Daichi Kamada's clever pass, let Nketiah to set up Uche for a simple tap-in.

Youngster Adam Wharton came close soon after, driving a long-range shot over the bar. Nketiah then appealed for a penalty after racing into the box, but the referee waved away the protests.

Ex-Arsenal man did not have wait long to find his goal, prodding home from a yard out after Uche's shot had hit the post.

The home side were hanging on desperately. Full-back Kameron Ledwidge was lucky to avoid a booking for two agricultural tackles on Yeremy Pino, before Chris Richards struck the woodwork with a powerful header from a corner.

Pino Seals the Contest

The contest was effectively over eight minutes from half-time. Yeremy Pino meandered past some comically weak challenges before coolly dispatching a shot past keeper Wessel Speel to extend the lead to 3-0.

Following the break, manager Oliver Glasner took the chance to rest several players like Kamada and Wharton. Replacement Romain Esse almost scoring with his first touch, only to see his shot blocked.

The youngster was incredibly unlucky later on, seeing one shot crash off each posts before being gathered on the line. Uche also missed a glaring chance, showing there is still room for development in his game.

A solitary worry for Palace was a second-half injury to Justin Devenny, who was forced off. This allowed 17-year-old striker Benji Casey to make his senior debut, rounding off an otherwise positive evening for the traveling side.
